Recently, there was a very interesting debate organised by the English Department.
Alright, the motion ( topic ) for the debate is:

Should Teachers Wear Uniform?

From the Proposition Team ( Also known as people who AGREE with the statement )

( From Left ) Ms Thiu, Mr Chiu and Ms Phay.

From the Opposition Team ( Also known as the people who DISAGREE with the statement )

( From Left ) Mr Yong, Ms Lee and Ms Bhavani

There was really heated arguments about the topic.
Here goes so pictures ( The picture quality is poor due to lighting conditions )

Ms Phay emphasizing her point about why uniforms should be worn.

Ms Lee trying to get people to believe that uniform for teachers, no go.

Where all the debates come to an end.

In the end, the teachers asked all of us to raise our hands and decides who wins.
Verdict : Teachers should wear uniform!

Hello!
Firstly, Thanks to all participants for coming today! Without you, this event won't happen!
Secondly, Although the planning isn't very smooth, as there was only 2 days to come out with everything, I gladly hope that you were happy.
Thirdly, We are walking separate paths next year, So I do believe that next time we can meet is either June or December and Sock Wei said that she will be more than happy to join us.
Lastly, I would like to Thank Kah Wei for co-planning this event with me and Thanks for picking up at least 30 calls per day for planning and attendance, Some people is hard to reach, you know. Most of the foreigners and classmates is at overseas, so if you are reading this blog overseas, We wish you a great trip there as well!

Boys Town Carnival (Planning + Actual Day )

I would like to Thank every single one of you who volunteered for throwing in your time, energy, effort and your enthusiasm. Without your support, this wouldn't be make true and be successful to date.

One day before the carnival, we are busily chionging the preparation work for the event, so Mr Johnson's idea was to shop one day before the carnival, this is to ensure that the equipment and foodstuff stays fresh and brand new.

It was certainly quite rush. But well, it paid off!

That day we were at Singapore's Biggest Supermarket Chain, NTUC Fairprice , we were at Bukit Panjang Plaza at around 11am.

Hop onto the escalator to get some groceries!

Thinking about what butter to buy and meanwhile someone ( the name rhymes with Serene ) , instead of thinking of buying butter, she looks at the camera and smiles.

" Shall we take this? Good Brand, Popular and Quite Stable " Says Mr Johnson

(Looking for Products)

" This brand of Ketchup can anot? Chilli leh? "

" This brand can lah! LOL "

Boys Town Carnival 2008 - D-Day!

With less than 5 hours of sleep, I managed to wake up with some bit of energy to kickstart the day. There is no breakfast ]:

Everyone met at 8am at the Study Area in AES. We started decorating the board for the class. As notified earlier, I was informed to bring extention cords, iPod, iPod Chargers and a speaker big enough to rock. Which was Rock-Ready.

Sometimes, we cant deny that human's do not have enough sleep, look at this photo, during the discussion at the Study Area.

Yadi's Burnt A Sausage Mission have been completed. Yadi was unaware that the switch was off while the sausage was there, when he on it, he was again, unaware that it was on, so the whole sausage turned black.

He Managed to burn a record of 4 sausages!

After our store have finshed selling, we closed the store and packed up, we have been working non-stop for 5 hours non stop.

Can I Borrow $25?

A man came home from work late, lethargic and irritated. He finds his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

"Daddy, may I ask you a question?" the son asked.

"Sure, what is it?" replied the man.

"Daddy, how much do you make an hour?" the boy questioned.

"That's none of your concern! Why do you ask such a thing?" The man said angrily.

"I just want to know, please tell me, daddy." the innocent boy answered.

"Okay, if you have to know, I earn $50 an hour." the father told him.

"Oh..." the boy said, with his head down.

"Can I please borrow $25 from you?" the son, then, asked.

The father grew furious.

"If it's because you asked that is so you can borrow money to get a silly toy or some other nonsense, then march yourself straight to your room and get to bed. Think about your selfishness. I don't work everyday to entertain such childish requests" the father screamed.

The disappointed little boy bowed his head down, silently, walked to his room and closed his door.

The man sat down and got angrier as he continued thinking about the questions his son had asked. After an hour, the man had calmed down.

"Maybe there's something he really needed to buy with the money. He doesn't ask for money very often." the father thought.

He went to his son's bedroom.

"Are you asleep, son?" He asked.

"No daddy, I'm awake," replied the boy.

"I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier" said the man. "It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $25 you asked for."

The little boy sat straight up, smiling happily. "Oh, thank you daddy!" he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled money.

The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.

The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

"Why do you need more money if you already have some?" the father grumbled.

"Because I didn't have enough..! But now I do!" The little boy answered.

"Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you..."

The father was torn apart. He put his arms around his young son, and begged for his forgiveness.

Everyone is busy earning money. Neglecting the people who cares and loves you. We shouldn't let time slip by our fingers without spending quality time with those who matters a lot to us. If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours. But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

Just Five More Minutes

While at the park one day, a woman sat down next to a man on a bench near a playground.

“That’s my son over there,” she said, pointing to a little boy in a red sweater who was gliding down the slide.

“He’s a fine looking boy” the man said. “That’s my daughter on the bike in the white dress.”

Then, looking at his watch, he called to his daughter. “What do you say we go, Melissa?”

Melissa pleaded, “Just five more minutes, Dad. Please? Just five more minutes.”

The man nodded and Melissa continued to ride her bike to her heart’s content. Minutes passed and the father stood and called again to his daughter. “Time to go now?”

Again Melissa pleaded, “Five more minutes, Dad. Just five more minutes.”

The man smiled and said, “OK.”

“My, you certainly are a patient father,” the woman responded.

The man smiled and then said, “Her older brother Tommy was killed by a drunk driver last year while he was riding his bike near here. I never spent much time with Tommy and now I’d give anything for just five more minutes with him. I’ve vowed not to make the same mistake with Melissa.

She thinks she has five more minutes to ride her bike. The truth is, I get Five more minutes to watch her play.”

Lessons Learned

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?”

“It was great, Dad.”

“Did you see how poor people live?” the father asked.

“We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.

“We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs.

“We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.”

The boy’s father was speechless.

Then his son added, “Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.”

Racial Harmony Day is celebrated on the 21st July in Singapore. It is to commemorate the 1964, which took places on 21st July 1964.

Racial Harmony Day also represents a day for schools to reflect on, and celebrate Singapore's success as a racially harmonious nation and society built on a rich diveristy of culture and heritage.

Family Bonding

Just want to share with you all something.

As much as we have to study, we shouldn't neglect the people around us, who have been supporting us and loving us all along.

Yes, our family.

I feel Family Bonding is very important, and that we shouldn't be distant with any of our family. I think that regardless of how tired you are, you should at least spend some time sitting down there, sharing your day with your parents or siblings.

I have read articles in the internet saying how their loved ones leave them and only then they find out that it's too late. There's no more time for them to talk, no time for them to say sorry, no time for them to say thank you, no time for them to say I Love You. It's really unfortunate for people to find out how precious a thing is only when they lost the thing.

I have not been spending time with my parents and they are all really busy working, providing. It's really bad because it's not like we did not go out together for a few days but a few months and I really regret that I neglect them because not saying thanks is really wrong.

Hee.. I don't even know why I am writing this here and not on my own blog.

Tickle Me Elmo

Heyhey!

Do you remember when MsPhay brought the Tickle Me Elmo, Aiksiang was saying people actually put kerosene on Elmo and burn it?

I found one Chicken Dance Elmo dancing on fire. The person who uploaded the video says its a Fried Chicken Dance.

And when I see this, I ask myself how does it keep on going and going even after its hands and head drop. Just for laughs, someone in the comments box asked,"What did Elmo ever do to you?".

Achtung!

I have changed the link for our class blog to make it much more easier to remember and type. Update your bookmarks if you have AEStwotwo2008 in your favourites list. I've also changed the username and password to access this blog, which I will be giving it out to all of you tomorrow, in school.

Leaving the unimportant things aside, I am thinking of trying out what MrJohnson told us to try, study groups. If more than 5people want to try it out then we can all give it a try, if not, I think we will have to find new ways to improve.

Interpol issues urgent alert for fugitive Singapore JI Terrorist leader:

SINGAPORE: World police group Interpol has issued an urgent global security alert for Mas Selamat Kastari, the Singapore leader of the Jemaah Islamiyah militant network, who escaped from a Singapore detention centre on Wednesday.

Interpol posted an Orange Notice, or urgent worldwide security alert, on its website, after a request from Singapore. The Orange Notice means the militant leader's photograph and fingerprints will be issued to each of Interpol's 186 national central bureaus.

Orange Notices can be issued by Interpol's general secretariat in Lyon, France, for any event posing a risk to the safety and security of citizens worldwide.

"Singapore is clearly doing all that it can on a national level to locate this fugitive and through issuing an Orange Notice, Interpol and all of its member countries can support these efforts on an international scale," said Interpol Executive Director of Police Services Jean-Michel Louboutin.

According to terrorism expert Rohan Gunaratna, it is highly likely that Kastari would try to flee Singapore to Indonesia.

The Singapore-based head of the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research told Channel NewsAsia that Kastari as an escape artist and is also a wanted man in Indonesia.

Sutarman, chief of police of Riau Islands province, which shares a sea border with Singapore, told Indonesia's state-run Antara news agency that the city-state "sent us an urgent notice requesting intensified patrols to prevent the terrorist from entering Indonesia."

He said Kastari "possesses good knowledge" about entering Indonesia illegally.

Indonesian police chief Sutanto told reporters in Jakarta that his force would help Singapore if Kastari makes it to Indonesia.

"It's our common obligation, as terrorism is a threat to any country," he said, adding: "We've taken all important measures," without elaborating.

While Kastari remained at large, police arrested another man whom they said
made threats after claiming he was the fugitive.

The 58-year-old used a public phone to claim he was Kastari and "threatened to attack multiple locations," a police news release said.

Meanwhile, Singapore continued to search for Mas Selamat who escaped from the Whitley Road Detention Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

Police officers were seen combing the area along Lornie Road, and around the Caldecott Broadcast Centre. They also put pamphlets in the mailboxes of the low-rise houses along Andrew Road.

The search team also looked around the cemetery on Sime Road.

Earlier the Home Affairs Ministry said security has been tightened at all places and buildings in the vicinity of where he might have escaped to or could be hiding.

The Ministry was responding to a query from Channel NewsAsia on whether security personnel have pulled out from the Whitley Road area where the search for Mas Selamat had centred.

The fugitive walks with a limp and is not known to be armed.

Photos of Mas Selamat, both clean-shaven and with a beard, have been released by officials who are appealing to the public to come forward if they have information on the fugitive's whereabouts. They can contact the Police at 999. -CNA/AFP/ir/vm
